Arbeitsbereich Bildungssoziologie / Sociology of Education Research Group

The Sociology of Education research group focuses on three distinct areas, all of which share a common perspective rooted in empirical life-course research: educational research, labour market research and research into inequality. Our central aim is to understand the significance of educational institutions, educational organisations and ascriptive characteristics (including gender, background and age) of groups of people interested in education for the structuring of unequal educational and employment trajectories. To this end, we offer a range of seminars that explore the theoretical foundations, methodological approaches and current findings of empirical research into education and the labour market.

Im Bereich der universitären Lehre ist der Lehrbereich für die bildungssoziologische Ausbildung auf Bachelor- und Masterniveau zuständig. Im B.A. Sozialwissenschaften hat er die Modulverantwortung für „Bildung, Beruf und Lebenslauf“, im M.A. Hochschule, Wissenschaft, Gesellschaft unterstützt er das Modul "Projektstudium". Daneben verantwortet der Lehrbereich das Modul „Wissen und Kultur“ im Rahmen der Lehramtsausbildung.
